Multiple business profit: which one pays you?

If you run more than one business and everything lands in the same account, it’s hard to tell which one makes money. Type what came in and went out for each one and see them side by side.

How it’s worked out

  1. For each business, what went out is subtracted from what came in: that’s what you keep.
  2. If you keep more than 20% of what came in, the business is profitable. Between 0% and 20% it’s breaking even. Below zero, it’s losing money.
  3. The total is what your businesses left you this month.

FAQ

What about expenses they share?

Internet, phone or gas are split across your businesses. Use the shared expense split calculator to see each one’s part.

How often should I do this?

Every month. A business that loses money one month is fine; one that loses three months in a row is costing you.

Do I need a bank account per business?

No. ProfitPeek sorts your activity by business even when it all lands in one account.
