Split shared expenses across your businesses

Internet, phone or gas serve several businesses at once. Type the expense and how it’s split, and see each business’s part. The parts always add up to the total, to the cent.

How it’s worked out

  1. Pick an even split or set a percentage for each business. Percentages must add up to 100%.
  2. Each business gets its part. If rounding leaves extra cents, they go one by one to the businesses with the largest fraction, so the sum is exact.
  3. That part counts as an expense of each business when you work out what it leaves you.

FAQ

Even split or percentages?

Even if they all use it about the same. Percentages if one uses it a lot more; for example, gas for a delivery business.

Why aren’t the parts exactly equal?

Because 50 divided by 3 isn’t exact: it’s 16.67 + 16.67 + 16.66. That way the sum is 50 again.

Do I have to do this every month?

Not with ProfitPeek: you pick the split once and every shared expense is split on its own.
